Armand Rousseau
There are seven Grands Crus here – and one pseudo Grand Cru too – eight in total. Each exhibits its own characteristics derived from the terroir upon which it is grown. To taste one after the other is to see the whole range of variety that is Gevrey Chambertin and what it is capable of.

Corinne and Eric, Charles’s two children are now firmly involved in the running of the estate. Corinne on the commercial side, and Eric in the cellar – and the effervescent Charles overseeing all.

The wines are never massively dark or over extracted which can be misleading to the uninitiated, for underneath there is amazing length, power and yet finesse waiting to burst out. The wines are balanced – in harmony. Any one who has had the fortune of drinking a mature example of any of Rousseau’s Gevrey can testify. Even difficult vintages such as 1980 are a joy.
