Bodegas Piqueras
From the Almansa region which lies 100km inland from Valencia and
Alicante, an area of 10,000 hectares. The soil is calcareous and it has an
extreme continental climate of hot summers & cold winters, together with
mild springs & low rainfall ideal for producing low yield Tempranillo,
Monastrell & Garnacha. The bodega was founded in 1915 & is now run by Juan
Pablo Bonete & his brother Angel, who aim to produce fine wines in smallish
quantities. In 2002 they moved into a brand new winery in Almansa, which
bodes well for even more impressive wines.
