Vincent / Château de Fuissé
Monsieur Vincent is a small but extremely effusive fellow who runs a very tight ship. He is now assisted by his daughter. As well as his more humble, but equally well made wines of Macon and Saint Véran, there are the single vineyard Premier Cru wines, each one from a specific terroir located on the slope behind the château: Les Combettes, Les Brûlées and Le Clos. The famous Château de Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is selected from these three parcels. The sum of the parts being superior to the components; well that is the theory. However, the assembly of the older vines from these three parcels provides a wine that has more structure for ageing than the individual components – and this is what is desired, for with ageing more complexity and style is achieved – even if you have to wait longer.
