Robert Arnoux
Pascal Lachaux, the son-in-law of the late Robert Arnoux, is really doing
some great things at this habitual under performing estate. Now with the
free reign he enjoys, the results have dramatically improved, and I would
rate this as one of the most enthralling estates in the Côte. There are
sixteen different wines made here – all in minuscule quantities. Pascal is a
charming, softly spoken young man who runs this fragmented domaine with
impeccable thoroughness. Sadly at present I am not able to offer as wide a
range of these wines as I would like, but we have to start somewhere. This
is a domaine to watch. 13 hectares of vines. 18 different crus. A new wine
this year, some Chambolle (Village) -1ha of it. Located underneath
Amoureuses. First harvest is 2000 vintage. Bought it from Bernard Amiot - a
mate of his in a private deal. Pascal is a good chap. Like him a lot. He is
a phenomenal spitter – he has this amazing bullet like action, drilling into
the ground like a sort of laser.
