Vilmart
Vilmart was founded by Desire Vilmart in the small village of Rilly on the
Montagne de Reims in 1872. In 1990 his great great grandson, Laurent
Champs, took over the business and introduced new oak barrel ageing
for their top cuvees, producing a series of exceptional champagnes. Vilmart
owns 11 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards around the village of Rilly,
which they farm organically. In style the champagnes of Vilmart most closely
resemble those of Krug. All of their champagnes benefit from ageing,
but due to length of time they remain on their lees in Vilmart’s cellars
they are as enjoyable young.. |
