Saint Aubin
Over the past twenty years the land under vine in Saint Aubin has doubled
and the production of white wine has trebled. When growers originally
planted the Chardonnay grape Saint Aubin was acknowledged for the relatively
low-cost of its white Burgundy. Today the premier cru white wines can still
be good value, and there are 29 premier crus in the commune, but on the
whole prices have risen considerably.
St Aubin reaches 340 metres in altitude, the grapes take longer to ripen and
they are susceptible to early rains, both the red and white wines of Saint
Aubin are light and crisp.
