Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux
Described by Clive Coates as ‘the greatest Pinot Noir village on earth’
Vosne-Romanèe sets extremely high standards for the Côte-de-Nuits region. It
contains a quarter of the great-growth vineyards of the area, a further two
can be found in Flagey-Echézeaux. The wines are expensive but of exceptional
quality. Delicious, sumptuous, silky and almost decadent in their luxury.
The two communes lie next to one another between Nuits-Saint-George and
Vougeot. It suits to discuss them together as Flagey is made up of the grand
crus Grands-Echézeaux and Echézeaux and anything else is labelled as
Vosne-Romanée.
