Vougeot
Nearly 80 percent of the Vougeot commune is given over to the famous Clos
grand cru. The premier crus account for another 17 or so percent leaving a
mere 4.83 hectares for the production of village wines.
It is considered that the domination of the grand cru is disadvantageous to
the other wines produced in the village but this is through no particular
fault of the growers and perhaps has more to do with the terroir.
